Sprained, Possibly Broken Ankle Healed

A year after graduating from college, I got together with my closest friend for my four years of college, Ron.  We had been roommates for three of our four years.  Ron was a football player in college (and went on to be a football coach).  Back in those days when you got an injury, you immediately "walked it off."  (Duh--not a very bright thing to do on a bad injury, but what tough football players were supposed to do back then.)  Now Ron had played all through school before college, and had experienced a number of injuries, such as broken leg, broken back (yes), arm pulled out of socket diving for a ball, etc.  He knew what it was like to have the pain of an injury, and was not wimpy about it.

We decided to play tennis.  True to his athletic ways, Ron made a leap for a tough volley I sent back his way, and he came down wrong on his ankle.  It hurt so badly he couldn't put any weight on it.  (He's had sprained ankles, and has "walked off" ankle injuries that weren't too severe.  He also had special training about them, including special tape jobs that enable you to act almost normal on a moderately injured ankle.)  I had Ron put his arm around my shoulder and we went back to the fence inside the tennis courts.  Ron tried to put his foot to the ground, but it hurt too badly.  It was not a matter of putting the foot on the ground, but merely to lightly touch the tip of the toe of his dangling foot hurt too much--he kept it fully off the ground after some efforts to try it.

While Ron held on to the fence, I stooped down, laid my hands on his ankle and prayed for it.  He immediately put his foot down flat on the ground!  He said:  "It only hurts a little bit now."  I remembered in the Bible about Jesus praying for a blind man.  Afterwards "he looked up and said, I see men as trees, walking.  And after that He put His hands again on his eyes and made him look up. And he was restored and saw all clearly" (Mark 8:24-25).  Therefore I stooped back down, laid my hands on his ankle and prayed again.  Ron said it doesn't hurt any more.  He immediately put his full weight on it, then bounced, and said it doesn't hurt at all.  We immediately played another match of tennis.  (For those of you who don't know, a match is made up of 3 sets, and each set is completed by winning a minimum of 6 games, and being at least 2 games ahead of your opponent.  In other words, some extensive, difficult playing in the hot sun.)

Afterwards we went back and saw some others we knew.  We told them about his ankle.  When we did, Ron stamped on one foot, then the other, back and forth, then remarked:  "I don't remember which ankle it was."  This was all the same afternoon!  Ron's ankle was instantly and miraculously healed!
