Injured Leg Healed
This event also occurred with my
best friend in college, Ron, but also with Jimmy, someone about our age who
lived close to my parents. I barely knew Jimmy, and Ron didn't know him at all.
(If you read the page about Ron's injured ankle,
you'll have more background on Ron
to appreciate this.) At the time, Ron and I were between our junior and
senior years of college (20 years old), and Jimmy was about the same age.
The three of us decided to backpack up Mt. Mitchell, which is the tallest
mountain east of the Mississippi River. There is a place at Black Mountain
camping ground to park your car, followed by a 4 mile hike to the top.
About three-fourths of the way up is a three-sided lodge (if you could call it
that). It had bunks--actually heavy screen-type mesh stretched between
boards to throw your sleeping bags on, a fireplace with a chimney, and one wall
totally open to the outside.
Once we had climbed two-thirds of the way, hot and sweaty, we came to a cool, refreshing stream. There is also a pipe placed into an underground spring which provides continuously running fresh spring water. We refreshed ourselves with this, splashed cool water on ourselves, and began to continue. However Ron suddenly injured his leg--it seemed to be some sort of injury to his ligament, to the best of our knowledge. In any case, he didn't seem to be able to go on. However he (the college football player) was much bigger than us, and I also didn't know how we could carry him down, either!
I had experienced a number of miracles--why was I so timid to say anything about it around people who didn't believe? Well wimpy me asked Ron where it hurt. He told me, and I laid my hand right where he said it hurt for a quick moment. I said nothing out loud--it appeared that I just felt it a moment. Immediately Ron started to go, and was stunned--the pain was instantly completely gone. He turned around and said: "You prayed for it, didn't you?" It was instantly, perfectly healed. We climbed the rest of the way to the "lodge" with no problems.
However when we got to the lodge, it was full of other people. So we sought refuge elsewhere. It was beginning to rain, so we found a large stone ledge that was virtually a shallow cave, large enough for us. Then came lightening and thunder--a very unusual experience for us, because the lightening and thunder came from out and BELOW us! (We were high up.) The shelter seemed perfect, but after we went to sleep, water began to pour out from behind us and through our cave-like shelter. Although it was summer, it was very cold in these conditions. We made it through until morning, and had a great climb the next day, and back to our car. Throughout all of this--all of which was MUCH tougher than that initial climb to the stream, Ron had absolutely no symptoms of problems with his leg or ligaments. He experienced another miracle, and was perfectly healed!
