Myrtle Beach South Carolina Real Estate

Myrtle Beach is a fun place to live. From fun on the beach in an oceanfront home to delight on the golf course, to sights of luxury homes in the Grand Strand, spectacular live performance theaters and entertainment, aquariums--the list goes on and on. (By the way, it's Myrtle Beach SC--there is no Myrtle Beach NC, as sometimes gets confused by first-time tourists.)

Myrtle Beach SC, home for fun, home for rest and recuperation, home for the young and young at heart, and a luxury home for the heart's desire.  Maybe it's your "home away from home" when you need a break for summer fun, or golf trips in the spring or fall.  But for more people every year, it has become the perfect answer to their search for a home!

Myrtle Beach is in the middle of the Grand Strand, which is approximately 60 miles of beaches from the North Carolina border to Georgetown.  A most wonderful beach like none other in the country, having an almost continuous stretch of wide beaches with a few inlets along the way.  South of Georgetown is a stretch of marshes and islands, which are less accessible, until you get to Florida.  Yes, there are places like Hilton Head Island, SC and Jekyll Island, GA, but that is just what they are--islands--less accessible, fewer services, fewer attractions, and far fewer accessible beaches.

Going north from Myrtle Beach the beaches become less accessible, with the exception of the Wilmington area, then less than halfway up the state the Outer Banks begin.  They were formed by the meeting of the cold northern Atlantic currents meeting the warm southern Atlantic currents, therefore the water from there north is colder.  The Outer Banks have very limited access, and once beyond into Virginia, the water at the beaches is cold.  It's another big reason why beach lovers north and west of the Carolinas want to "call Myrtle Beach home!"

The ocean breezes are always fresh and invigorating.  It's so pure and perfect that even those with allergies and nasal congestion tend to clear up in the fresh breezes--especially if they get into the wonderful, warm salt water beaches.  The fantastic Grand Strand beaches have appeal like no other in the world. For instance the West Coast has beautiful beaches, but the water is cold, even past the border into Mexico.  The Gulf of Mexico is beautiful, but with limited exposure to the open ocean, the waves are small. and the water more likely to have vegetation and algae (which sometimes causes unpleasant odors during certain seasons).  The Gulf is also much more subject to hurricanes than South Carolina, as well as more violent hurricanes.  Due to the shape of the coast, temperatures of the water, prevailing winds, etc., hurricanes tend to hit the Gulf states, or veer out to sea.  If they hit a beach in U.S. north of Florida, it tends to be in North Carolina.  Yes, Myrtle Beach is exposed, but around here they still talk about Hurricane Hazel--and that was in 1954!

Unbelievably, Myrtle Beach has over 14,000,000 tourists visit annually, while having a permanent population of less than 30,000!  The metro population includes Georgetown to the south and Brunswick county to the north, along with Myrtle Beach's own Horry County for a population of 346,548.

The first residents to Myrtle Beach were in 1900, enabled by a railroad which was built from Conway to Myrtle Beach.  The beach got its name from the Wax-myrtle, a native and common shrub in the area.  Myrtle Beach was incorporated as a town in 1938, and as a city in 1957.

Myrtle Beach is considered by many to be the golf capital of the U.S.  Golfers migrate here for golf weekends, and many choose to find their perfect golf home or even private golf course community here.  We have over 100 golf courses locally!

The beautiful, warm water, the sand between our toes, the coastline like no other in the United States, having four seasons--albeit a very mild winter.  Tourists from all over the nation and countless Canadians enjoy oceanfront homes on a seasonal basis, then decide to buy their own luxury home in the Grand Strand.  If not an ocean front home, then a second row home (which is across the street from oceanfront homes), or an ocean view home.  If they can't find their perfect Myrtle Beach home for sale, then they will move up the coast to the beaches of North Myrtle Beach, or move south to Surfside Beach, Garden City Beach, Litchfield Beach or Pawleys Island.

For some reason, many people have been searching for a Myrtle Beach NC luxury home for sale.  But they will not find any home for sale in Myrtle Beach NC, because Myrtle Beach SC is the only Myrtle Beach there is!

If your are searching for your home in Myrtle Beach, you've come to the right place!  Here you have the best tool to search for Myrtle Beach homes for sale on the Internet--actually a choice of the best searches developed.  From the home page a single click can pull up all the oceanfront homes, second row homes, and Intracoastal Waterway homes for sale in the MLS.  Contact Me if you need help or if you want to step inside and see them--I look forward to meeting you!
